Release counter

  • Dec. 11th, 2007 at 6:20 AM

Eugene and Emil from the KDE Games team made a release counter for 4.0:

KDE 4.0 Release Counter

If you want to use it on your blog or page:

Whoa...
Whoa.. that's really close. Scary close. But a wonderful idea to get people in release-mode. :)

Great
Great idea! Thanks!

Using it on my blog already (http://www.andreichitic.ro). Counting the days... constantly updating KDE4 SVN until then.

Awesome counter image! I wish there was a way to put that in the Kicker. I tried loading it in A-foto (SuperKaramba widget) but it needs the URL to end with a file extension. :-(

I tried loading the image in the Picture Frame plasmoid (how cool would it be to have the countdown timer INSIDE the thing that is being counted down too?) unfortunately, it had errors trying to load any remote URL. Also, I couldn't drag the plasmoid into the panel. But one day soon, it will all start working!

In the mean time, I guess I'm stuck with a text-only SuperKaramba countdown widget.

url with file extension
@anonymous wanting a file extension, try this:
http://games.kde.org/new/counter/?file.png

Luckily the webserver ignores the argument completely.

link it to the release event site! =)
linking the image to http://www.kde.org/kde-4.0-release-event/ would be a great idea too, imho. =)

Funny quote

To spot the expert, pick the one who predicts the job will take the longest
and cost the most.
